Dr. Darren W. Soong, Bariatric Surgeon Darren Soong, MD, FACS, FASMBS, is a highly-skilled and experienced general and bariatric surgeon practicing at the Surgical Weight Control Center of Nevada. Board-certified, he is one of the Southwest’s premier surgeons and is known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence in patient care and patient safety. He has been an assistant clinical professor with several medical schools and is currently an assistant clinical professor at the University Of Nevada School Of Medicine. Dr. Soong is a native of Honolulu, Hawaii. He earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and received his medical degree at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University Of Nevada School Of Medicine where he was promoted to Chief Resident. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery (ABS), and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a Fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS), a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), Clark County Medical Society, Nevada State Medical Association, and the American Society of Bariatric Physicians (ASBP). Dr. Soong has received numerous awards and recognition. For four consecutive years, he was voted as one of the Top Doctors' in Las Vegas by three different magazines (Las Vegas Life, 215 South Magazine, Summerlin Magazine).
