Christopher Finnell Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

As a native to this area, Dr. Finnell grew up in Holliday, Texas. Upon completion of school, he returned to Wichita Falls to begin practicing bariatric as well as general surgery. Dr. Finnell is an honors graduate of Midwestern State University as well as the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. Following residency, Dr. Finnell did a fellowship in laparoscopic gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery at the renowned bariatric facility Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey. Dr. Finnell has studied under some of the leaders in bariatric weight loss surgery and performs the latest techniques in laparoscopic procedures. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is an active member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). Dr. Finnell has also achieved the Bariatric Center of Excellence Certification. He has special interest in laparoscopic bariatric procedures, as well as hernia, colon, reflux and trauma surgeries. Dr. Finnell is committed to providing excellent patient care both before and after surgery. His objective is to give patients the tools necessary to be successful. Dr. Finnell and his team make every effort to teach patients how to effectively use these tools, to be not only productive with weight loss, but to improve and extend their quality of life long term. Patients are encouraged to attend complimentary monthly support group meetings, which are offered in-house, the first Thursday of every month, facilitated by his Registered Nurse who is certified in bariatrics and also serves as the Bariatric Program Coordinator for United Regional.  United Regional continues to be named a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence and is designated as a Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery. United Regional also offers a specialized bariatric unit with highly trained staff dedicated to the care and comfort of the bariatric surgery patient.  Dr. Finnell requires life-long follow up from his patients and all patients are managed in his office, by himself.
