Alejandro Lopez-Ortega, MD is the founder and Medical Director of ALO Bariatrics and specializes in minimally invasive weight loss surgery. As a board-certified surgeon, Dr. Lopez has performed over 6,000 bariatric procedures. Dr. Lopez earned his medical degree from the University of Guadalajara and completed his residency at Western National Medical Center, IMSS. He completed fellowship training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois where he received advanced training in weight loss surgery procedures.

Since 2005, Dr. Lopez has received numerous awards for his work and technical skills and is a Bariatric Surgeon of Excellence. He is recognized as one of "Mexico's Top Bariatric Surgeons" by The Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery and was voted one of the "Top 10 Bariatric Surgeons in Mexico" by The Mexican College of Obesity Surgery and Metabolic Diseases. Additionally, Dr. Lopez was awarded for his participation to the International Congress of Endoscopic Surgery, organized by the Mexican College of Endoscopic Surgery and Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery. He has researched and authored many articles about weight loss surgery and obesity.

Dr. Alejandro Lopez-Ortega is a member of The International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO), the Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery (AMCE), American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), Colegio Mexicano de Cirugia para la Obesidad y Enfermedades Metabolicas (CMCOEM), and Consejo Mexicano de Cirugía General (CMCG).
