Gal Gazit Bariatric Physician M.D.

Dr. Gazit is a specialist in bariatric medicine, the field that deals with obesity and weight loss. He became Board Certified (Diplomate) in Bariatric Medicine after he passed both extensive written and oral examinations, as well as an onsite, peer-reviewed Patient Care Review.

Obesity, declared a specific disease entity by the National Institutes of Health, is believed to affect more than 58 million people across the nation and has been established as a major risk factor for hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus and some cancers in both men and women.

Dr. Gazit joined Medical Weight Control and Nutrition in 1996 and became Medical Director of the practice in 1997. Working six days a week, Dr. Gazit has treated thousands of overweight and obese patients. He has also cared for the extremely challenging morbidly obese (>100 lbs. overweight) patients with co-morbid medical conditions.

Dr. Gazit is married and lives in New York City with his wife and dog (Spike). His hobbies include sports, traveling and reading.
