Teenagers are, most of the times, perfect candidates for weight loss surgery; however, it is important to have the right surgeon, as teens are at a developmental stage. Their organs have not reach maturity and can not be treated as an adult, fully developed patient.

As part of the Committee of Accreditation and Certification of the Mexican Council for the Surgery of Obesityand Metabolic Diseases (the organization that certifies ALL bariatric surgeons in Mexico) I'm here to recommend you verify your chosen surgeon to be BOARD-CERTIFIED IN BARIATRICS. Not all "bariatric" surgeons are CERTIFIED in BARIATRICS.

Also, having surgery in a full scale medical center is important. When a board-certified bariatric surgeon is certified, the facilities from which such surgeon operates ARE ALSO CERTIFIED FOR BARIATRICS.
