I was a fat baby and it didn't improve much over the next 34 years. I thinned down to an average weight from about 8th to 12th grade. When I went off to college and then got married I started the battle of being overweight all over again. With each baby I carried about 20 more pounds AFTER the pregnancy to the next one and then I went on the Depo Provera birth control shot and gained like 60 po...

i really wasn't a food addict. I simply had a metabolism that didn't work. I did all diets that are on the market- without success.

It was brutal. All of my life, except for a period of 1 year when I was 15, I had an ongoing battle with my obesity. I ate when I was happy, I wate when I was sad, I ate ALL the time. But the very worst for me was when I was depressed - which was quite often. I used my obesity as a shield to keep people away, even though I craved attention and love. I had an amazing family unit, but never quite fe...

I guess I have been like almost everyone else in this department. The emotional battle has been a hard one to over come. The eating, the eating and the eating...Then being so unhappy with myself I eat some more. I have tried a number of fad diets and also just tried to loose on my own, but as always I gain more weight. I sometimes think why me??why am I the only one like this and having this problem...

Before learning about bariatric surgery I felt that I was destined to be fat. I had tried so many diets over the years that I had given up trying to keep track of them all. Eventually I adopted the mentality that nothing works so why try. All that did for me was put on more weight.

I felt being fat was going to be my way of life forever and I was going to have to deal with whatever that meant. I was happy eating what and whenever I wanted, but didn't want to keep gaining weight. I was not happy with myself, therefore I would not go out into public unless it was absolutely necessary.

I weighed 105lbs. in kindergarten. Things only got worse as I got older. In 7th grade, I tipped the scales at 275lbs. I started Medifast and lost 65lbs. I quit after that and kept most of it off. My 11th grade year I began starving and exercising excessively. I got down to 130lbs. I was very skinny for my body type. I still felt terrible about myself because food still controlled me. I wa...

I use to be very active loved the outdoors, bike riding, running, cross country sking...ect. after my weight gain of 50 lbs in 6 months all that stoped. then it was all downhill. the weight kept coming on slowly over time after i stopped the pill. the rapid weight gain was the worst, i h...

I have been overweight since I was a teenager. Then when I had my two sons the weight kept piling on. I have done Richard Simmons Weight Watchers Dr. Atkins trying all sorts of diets only to gain the weight back and then some. So it has been a part of my life for the past 23 years.

Before surgery, my behavior and emotion with weight was like a roller coaster. It was always up and down. One day I hated myself because of the way I looked, and the next day I was trying to find ways to accept who I was and love myself... fat or not. I was always too proud to acknowledge how I really was. In my eyes, I was beautiful and didn't need to change. Eventually, I learned of my high bloo...

I have been overweight, my entire life. I have struggled with trying to lose weight since I was in junior highschool. I have used diet pills, and chews. I have followed the Richard Simmons' Deal-a-meal(twice). I have even lost 100's of pounds on my own, only to reach a plateau that I could not get past. People who care about you are as frustrated as you, and sometimes they say cruel things to moti...

I can remember being overweight in elementary school. My mother who also battles with her weight put me on countless diets. I would lose a few pounds but would eventually gain it back. By the time I hit high school I was skipping meals and basically eating junk. I dieted but didn't take it seriously because I was never successful. For several years I changed my thought process and "accepted" ...

I have tried every diet out there, or so it seems. Have always been able to lose, but not maintain. I hate the inner struggle, knowing I am a awesome person and yet always failing in this area. Feeling it has affected me all my life, in relationships, jobs and self esteem.

Before the surgery I was always moody because I hated being heavy and could not do the things I wanted to with my family, I knew health issues were becoming a strong presence in my life and that scared the daylights out of me. I never felt well always something is seemed like and that sucked.

I guess after being overweight for nearly 40 years of my 57 years I just finally thought there was NO answer or hope of being of "normal" weight. Untill I heard of the lap. bybass and as soon as I saw a commerical on the TV within days went to see my Dr. and she was as excited as I was and made all the arrangements for my first visit. I didn't think I was depressed but in all reality I am. I never...

I tried every diet out there and did very well with them. An example was the Atkins Diet I lost 90 lbs in a year. Of course I gained back 120 lbs, butn I did lose weight on it. Another time I lost 70 pounds and gained back 90. I'll bet I have lost the weight of 5 grown men over my life, but gained back 7 grown men. I really did YoYo dieting for years.

I have always been "The Fat Girl", even though, when I look back at old pictures of myself, I was not that overweight. I just was bigger than everyone my age. It's very difficult to be looked at as overweight, because people say why don't you just stop eating so much or get up and exercise. For some of us it isn't that easy. Then that causes you to look at yourself as a failure. In my case, I tur...
