I've been overweight atleast since I was in 3rd grade. I've been made fun of, called names and discriminated against for all of those years, even while attending a "Christian" college. People can be very cruel.

I was typical of many Super-morbidly Obese individuals. Had tried "every diet in the book." Was always successful at removing the weight - but, failed miserably at the "keeping it off phase!"

I got to a point where I didn't see a way out of my obesity. When I learned of bariatric surgery, it seemed the answer I had been looking for. The success stories found on obesityhelp.com really inspired me to pursue and ultimately go through with the surgery and I am very happy I did it! There have been some tough times, but my success is great so far!

I struggled with my weight ever since I was diagnosed with crippling arthritis. My life changed as a result and depression, self esteem and confidence were very difficult to manage.

Besides the yo yo effect, I would go through periods of feeling helpless, hopeless. Especially as I watched the numbers on the scale rise. I felt especially so because I have an obese son who I feel powerless to help. The last year was very stressful at work. I ate my way through them without really thinking about it. I would buy donuts for my office team so that I wouldn't have to eat them a...

I was always getting fusterated because I would try these diets and they would work but you would have to be on that diet til you die. Then when you are dieting and going by the book not cheating and you go weight to find out you lost nothing. Then your real upset and go and pig out on icecream.

It was a never ending battle. Diet, fail, diet, temporary success, then return to fail. Eventually, the fear of failing again let me to quit trying and to 'accept' myself as being a fat failure.

weight has been a problem my whole life. I remember being as young as 8 and dieting. I was the largest in any setting I was in and couldn't share embarrassing thing with even my closest friends. I lived with a constant reminder every day as my sister constantly teased me about being bigger than her even though she was older. My Mother always used to tell us we couldn't leave the table until our pl...

I was overweight from the time I was a very young child on. I didn't realize just how overweight until I began looking back at my school pictures a few years ago. It really hit me that I had a major health problem before I even had any idea what healthy eating or being overweight was. I started dieting at age 14 or so. It wasn't hard to find friends to diet with at this age. We went on a lot ...

I have been battiling weight gain for over 20 years now and have tried all and lost. I turned to food for emotional support as well as many others have, it was the only constant in my life that mattered to me. Until I got married, then I was extremely happy but still seemed to pack it on.

I went to every diet known to man. I even bought everything that came across the TV nothing would help. Oh sure I would lose 10 lbs. But I would gain 20 lbs. back right after I looked at the scale at the end of the month. I yoyoed forever it seemed then the Dr. told me I had to lose weight for my health I tried it for another three to four years and just could not do it.

I was a yo-yo.. some months I did great with my "dieting" and then I'd hurt myself and become more "lax" because I couldn't excercise and eventually I would sabotage all efforts I had made and gain what I'd lost plus more.

I have battled with weight all my life. I was on my first diet at 8 months old. I have always heard the 'you have such a pretty face if only' line. One time I actually had a lady looking at my two slender daughters ask if I shared food with them! I have been on every diet and weight loss gimic known to man/woman. Some worked for awhile, some didn't work at all, and some were just a lesson in the f...

I have battled with my weight for the better part of twenty years. I am the classic dieter, lose
10 pounds then gain 20 back, you know what I mean. For as long as I can remember, I've
heard "you have such a pretty face" or " if only you would lose some weight". The truth of the
matter is that I am a beautiful woman, regardless of my excess weight. I don't really care
what people think of m...

I had to think about my weight all the time.. Could I safely sit in a chair or could I fit, can I find clothes that I like that will fit me, can I walk that far.. the list goes on and on. It is a constant battle with your body and your surroundings and it makes you feel terrible.

I've been on a diet since the 4th grade. The only time I was thin was in college and I was literally starving myself to death. Every time I lost a lot of weight, I gained it back plus more. I was depressed and in the end wouldn't go out in public because I didn't want anyone to see me. I went to the grocery store and work and that's it.

I wasnt always overweight, I was always a small person, but in 2000 I started gaining weight rapidly, and the doctors did not find that I had thyroid disease until I had gained a lot of weight..then in 2001, I had both my legs in cast's and did not walk for a year and so the weight was really coming on, then in 2002 I tried all the diets I could, but due to my ankle and foot injuries it was imposs...

As a child and teenager, I did not have issues with my weight. I studied the martial arts religiously and led a fairly healthy life. As a whole, I did not think much about my weight.
Transitioning into adulthood proved to be difficult though. My mother passed away from an excruciating death from colon cancer, and her death took a toll on me. I coped by turning to something that I thought wou...

I was addicted to food before weight loss surgery. I , at almost 4 years post op, deal with the food demons on a daily basis. I know that I am in control now and that is what keeps me successful. Before weight loss surgery, I turned to food for everything.. comfort in times of need, happiness in times of celebration, etc. I know that I have to feed these emotions with other things now, and I also ...
