Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

Weight has become an issue since I had my son 2 years ago. I developed hypothyroidism 3 months after having him and gained 50 lbs. I stopped going places and I avoided seeing people. I just wanted to feel better about myself. I wanted to always be in my own little shell.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

not being able to wear what I wanted to wear and missing out on things simply because I refused to let people see how overweight I had gotten.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I just got it 3 weeks ago and I've lost 15 lbs so I haven't changed that much but I am starting to feel better about myself. And I have more energy than I did before.
