Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

Prior to attending the bariatric center,I ate anything I wanted, any quantity, at anytime. I did not care or even understand that as I was getting older it was not a good idea to eat like I did when I was a teenager. I joined weight watchers and lost 50 pound, which boosted my confidence; however i made the poor choice of not paying attention to what i was eating so i gained it all back. my highest weight was 290 pounds. I am 5'8 and many people would say " you are not that big". But I was big and out of shape, so i had to do what was in my best interest.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

My low self confidence and and not being able to fit into clothes that I really liked.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

My surgeon made me loose 30 pounds before surgery. i had gastric bypass surgery in 2010 and I am my weight has been between 184-195 pounds. My goal is not to gain weight and build muscle. I was a size 24, now I am a size 12.
