Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have tried ever diet know to man and would lose some weight. Eventually I would fall off the bandwagon and be back to eating poorly. I weighed in at the heaviest weight ever this summer, partially after taking steroids for my asthma. I recently started a new career as a speaker and trainer which requires me to be on my feet for hours. After my training classes, I am in bed for hours because my knees, feet and back hurt really bad. I really need a permanent change, so I can be here to see my grandchildren grow up. I need to be healthier and stronger,

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Not being able to bend over and put my shoes on without becoming short of breath. Traveling and not fitting comfortably in the plane seat. Not being able to do things with my grandchildren. Walking up the stairs and huffing and puffing afterwards and hoping no one notices it.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I am in the evaluative process with Kaiser.
