Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I was tired of trying all types of diets and not being successful with keeping the weight off. My last result was to get my mouth wired.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The pain of not feeling good about yourself. Low-self esteem, health problems. I was tired.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

My life period!!!!!!!!!!! But really I feel better and my clothes are getting bigger!!!!!!!!

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

I find about it aroung 3 years ago and never in a millions years would think about having it. But the last time I got on the scale I said to myself "You better do something right now! I MEAN NOW!

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

I wrote a letter to my insurance company pouring my heart out and begging to give me a chance to get my life back. I was approved in 1 week. No problem amd I Thank them from the bottom of my heart. Dr. Paul Lin and his staff from George Washington University did wonders working with me.

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

Very informative. I felt comfortable and he had my attention. He answered all my questions without rush and told me what to expect. His experience, education, mannerism made me feel safe. Make sure that when you meet with him pay close attention and ASK QUESTIONS.

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

I was tired of being a prisoner in my own body!!!

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

Well I am going to attend support groups. I joined curves and I walk everyday on my lunch break. I eat healthier and there is no looking back.

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

My scar actually looks nice. Dr.Paul Lin is a Wonderful and cute.

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

So far none.

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

Yes!! It's like people respect you more for making a change to better yourself. Now other people aroung me want to lose weight to.
