Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have been overweight since I was a teen, in 2000 when I had a baby, I topped my highest weight of 286. Now , its 2004 and Im going back up and Im at 273. Its time to make a change for good. The battle of trying to lose it and it not coming off makes me so depressed. I have tried so much, Im lucky to be alive. Even the doctors have given me meds. Hopefully WLS surgery put me on the right path to getting a smaller body .

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I cant wear cute clothes, a fat girl is not cute. and they dont even make clothes that fit me right. My knees hurt so bad , I cant sit in my seat good in my car, I cant ride the rides at six flags. People look at me as this fat pig..

I went in the hospital at 10am on a friday, surgery was at 2pm, I got my own room at 8pm, I slept most of that time, Sat morning I got up and walked down the halls, I really didnt have much pain, I only took with me a tootbrush and toothpaste, and I had my mom bring me some lotions and face wash.
