I'll write more about my battle with weight soon, but for now...I'm starting with the present. If you'd like to peek at my past, I did start a blog from before the surgery and wrote in it from time to time. I've been writing, as of late. itsaboutbeinghealthy.wordpress.com
I've assigned myself a new weight loss challenge! 50 pounds in 3 months. I WILL weigh 50 pounds less on or before July 19, 2013. Stay tuned as I document my progress, pitfalls, (hopefully not too many of those), and methods to my madness!!!
I've lost almost 200 pounds so far, but I've sort of reached a plateau. No more plateau for me! I'm going back to basics. PROTEIN FIRST!!! NO CARBS. NO SUGAR. That'll be my first week, beginning today. I'm going to stock up on healthy snacks when I go to the grocery store today. PORK RINDS.. please take heed to what I'm saying about pork rinds. The have NO CARBS and you can eat almost as many as you want. They even have protein!!!!! Once you get past the fact that they are pork rinds they are just the same as chips or popcorn. They come in all flavors or you can use popcorn seasonings. Put the rinds in a zip lock bag, pour in the seasonings, zip it and shake!! Yum! Also, celery with peanut butter. Keep nuts on hand...they are a life saver. Any kind of nut will do! Yes, they have carbs, but its all canceled about because of the amount of protein they have.
More helpful hints later. I need your support so take this journey with me!!

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?
It was extremely difficult to move, at 388+ pounds. Hard to breath. Enduring all the demeaning looks and comments. Not being able to interact with my daughter the way I'd really like to. Difficulty bathing. Shopping... so many things.
If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?
I CAN PARK AS FAR AWAY FROM THE STORES AS I WANT TO AND NOT HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IT. Before, I'd circle around and around until I found a very close spot. I'd dread each step, but its invigorating to walk and with each step I get closer to my goal weight. I can go to the mall with my daughter and not just drop her off. The first time I was able to walk the mall with her, I cried. I didnt let her see me cry, but it was such a big moment for me. Being able to attend parent/teacher conferences. Volunteering at her school is something I'll be able to do this year!
