Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I have always been a voluptuous child/woman who never had a problem with the weight until about thirteen years ago. Right after saying "I Do" to my husband I was diagnose with type 2 diabetes. At that time I weighed in at my highest weight ever which was 280lbs. Although I was that heavy, I never developed a personality issue. Always very confident in self and loved to dress to impress. My parents raised me to accept what God created me to be for I was created in his image.
Weighing 280lbs per the Dr. was not good for my diabetes and he suggested I lose weight. Immediately I began working with a personal trainer and exercising. Almost eight months later I had loss 30lbs but couldn't drop any more. Years later my weight consistently fluctuated up and down, up and down which has finally lead me to my decision on bariatric surgery.
What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?
The worst things for being overweight are the bad health issues I have developed behind it. At 38 years old I have diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, sleep apnea etc. Recently my knees have been giving me problems to the point I've had two injections in them (not fun at all).
If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?
I have not had surgery yet but I will say this........my mindset and outlook on weight lose is different. I am enjoying exercising frequently and meeting other people who are trying to make a life style change.
