Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

Before having WLS I was a binge eater. I would eat my self till I got sick. I would eat when I was bored, sad, angry or just plain eat because I just love food. Food was my life, I thought about food from the time I went to bed till the time I woke up. When I woke up I thought about what I was going to have for dinner.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The Worst thing about being overweight was not being able to play with my daughter, after five minutes I was tired and did not have much energy. I am only two weeks post-op and I already feel different. I have more energy, I like to get up and do things, I don't put things aside for later.

My daughter, I want to here for here for along time. I want to teach her how to rollerskate, take her on a rollercoaster, on a water slide, run with her. I want her to be proud of her mommy and I want to look up to me. I love my daughter with all my heart and soul and I want to be able to enjoy all the things life has to offer her and me.

I did the procedure that was most common.

The biggest fear I had was not waking up from surgery and not seeing my daughter again. I would tell other people that it is normal to have these feelings, and that they will get through it because you have to have faith and a positive outlook.
