Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I waited until I was 57 before having the surgery. That was a long time of over eating and very difficult to stop. I found myself in relationships that were dysfunctional because of the way I looked.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Everyone stared at me in public and especially in restaurants.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I am eight years out and have retained the weight loss but still have problems with my addiction to food. I feel like I'm missing out on something that everyone else can do....eat large portions. Otherwise, I am an ordinary person and have taken up acting with my new slim body. I also tap dance and participate in activities that only slim people can do.
