Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I've been on a roller coaster with weight control. Emotionally eating, "rewarding" myself with junk food. RecentLY, It's become more of a health concern. High blood pressure and swollen feet. My weight has gotten so high I've just lost who I am and thought I would be this way forever, until I decided to look into surgery. After learning about all 3 procedure, the Sleeve is for me! :) I've waited a year to FINALLY hear that my insurance will cover it!

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Not being able to breath after walking up a flight of stairs, having to hold my breath when i bend down to get something, high blood pressure. My feet and back throbbing while doing something as simple as dishes. Not being able to run around with my step girls because I hurt, or am too tired, or the time I tried to go down the slip n slide with them and ripped it. (not to mention hurting for 2 weeks after!) Mostly, hating the person I see in the mirror, not knowing how I became this person. It's time for a change... now!

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I am still in the process of Pre Op Appointments and am hoping to have my surgery in mid September 2012!
