Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

Where shall I begin, I was always a tiny skinny kid, I worked out in high school faithfully, didnt eat fast food or eat sugar. In 1994 I had a 65 pd weight gain with my first baby boy. In 1999 had another 50 pd weight gain with my second baby boy. Met my wonderful husband in 2000. We tried for many yrs to have a baby, tons of fertility drugs, depression and sadness. Went to a specialist in 2009, he told me to lose 25 pds, so I did. What a motivator! BAM pregnant again, 80 pd weight gain!! lets add some PPD after birth of my daughter and add another 30 pds to my weight. Now I'm 230 pds and was just approved by the nurse practioner to have gastric. Thank God:)

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Insecurity is the worst thing for me, I know who I am and I'm certainly NOT the fat girl I see in the mirror. I would love to play more with my children, be happy and healthy.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Waiting for surgery:)
