Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I started to struggle with weight at age 27 after the birth of my first child. Through out my adult years the weight went up and down. I exercised and used a variety of diets. By age 50 it got harder to lose and easier to gain. By m 60's I gave up. My husband suggested I think about weight loss surgery.
What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?
I developed high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and need a C-PAP machine for sleep. I had no energy and was physically unable to do many of the things I used to do. I was on the outside of many activities that friends and family could enjoy.
If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?
I had a gastric bypass 3 months ago. I have lost 45 pounds and no longer have need of blood pressure medication. I can go up steps without having to pull myself up. My balance is better and I have more energy. I have control over food now. I am looking forward to more weight loss as I add more physical activity.
I have moved out of the women's section in the store! No more fat clothes!
