Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I felt like I was weak and couldn't lose weight because I wasn't disciplined enough. I had accepted that I would be a "big girl" for the rest of my life. It took several years to get there but I never felt picked on...just didn't have any energy...and I don't think I realized how much more I was eating than "normal" people. I always felt hungry...

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Lack of energy and health for sure! I also was hot most of the time...probably from my thermal fat layer since I am cold most of the time now...and I live in Arizona!

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Buying normal size clothes and looking better. I am still working on the energy (a year 2 post op goal for myself). My bloodwork is good and I am taking back control in areas of my life that I previously ignored because they overwhelmed me. Even though my energy isn't where I want it to be, it's still a LOT better than it was before surgery.
