Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I was one of those people who tries a diet, loses 18-20 lbs and then plateaus only to gain the weight back 2 weeks later. Very frustrating. I could not deal with not being able to bend over and tie my shoes comfortably without holding my breathe in. I don't think I could of gained another pound and functioned in everyday life.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I think the worst thing about gaining weight is the stereo typing people do when they see an overweight person. People (most) automatically think you are lazy and have no energy or motivation to do anything productive.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Since my surgery the things I like to do the most are going to the gym, walking around mall without being out of breath. Taking walks with my husband or mother are so much easier and I can still breathe after 20 steps and even 2 miles.
