Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I felt desperate being overweight. Being so short and wide made it hard to find clothes that fit well. I wish I could have just been happy with what I was dealt because I am back to where I started and now have major complications. Knowing this now----I could have lost the weight performing the same exercises and watched what I ate. At least I thought I could. Now, today I will give you my timeline the best I can. STATS 5 FT 0 INCHES START WT 192 2006 AUG. DR. ADAM NAAMAN DID MY RNY. 2006 1 MONTH AFTER SURGERY. EXPERIENCING POSSIBLE BERI BERI/LEGS 2007 HUSBAND DECIDED TO LEAVE ME. I MOVED OUT OF MY HOME. HE A NEW GIRLFRIEND MIND YOU HE WAS (YES, WAS) PAST TENSE. A PRIEST 2007 SEIZURE #1. FACE MET THE CONCRETE, BROKE FINGER, SPLIT LIP. BROKE 2 TEETH. 2007 LOST MY INSURANCE AND CONTACT WITH MD. NO MONEY 2007 LOST 46 LBS THE FIRST YR. NOTHING AFTER THAT. HAD TO FOCUS ON WORK, BILLS 2010 SEIZURE #2 2011 FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY. MOVED ABOUT 4 TIMES. KEPT RUNNING INTO "THEM" 2012 JUNE 14 ANOTHER SEIZURE. BIT LIP BUT LANDED IN GRASS SO DAMAGE WAS MINIMAL I AM ANEMIC, TIRED, HAVE REACTIVE HYPOGLYCEMIA. Sometimes I feel like we just buy into what others want us to look like. I don't know if I could have maintained my weight before RNY or now with these complications but I am having to look into other ways to manage the complications and not he weight. This surgery is a BIG surgery. Don't underestimate what may happen once things settle. Vitamins, minerals, nutrients you are getting being overweight without RNY may not be there after and it's hard to know unless you find someone who can do some sort of vitamin tests or something to be sure you maintain what you have, especially the B vitamins. DO TON'S OF RESEARCH AND FIND OUT FOR SURE WHETHER IT'S WORTH IT. PERSONALLY, AT 44 I WILL KEEP WHAT IS LEFT AND ADD IN TAB/VITAMIN IF POSSIBLE ANYTHING I CAN'T GET THROUGH FOOD ESPECIALLY MEAT. NO REVISION FOR ME. WT TODAY 187

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

PEOPLE AND THE WAY THEY ASSUME THINGS. THEY CAN BE CRUEL BUT I HONESTLY DON'T CARE ANYMORE. THEY CAN ALL KMA.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I AM STILL ALIVE AFTER THESE 3 SEIZURES
