Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. Being a fat little girl in grade school was not a good thing and being "heavy" in high school did not win any popularity contests. Carrying extra weight has it's social and psychological problems. Extra weight comes with self-esteem issues. It can cause personal and professional issues. So before I learned about Bariatric life was very sad.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst thing about being overweight are the health risks and the non-existent quality of life. A person that is overweight has body aches and pains, that does not allow me to enjoy out door activities. Medication from weight related conditions can cause all types of side affects that could be detrimental.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

My surgery was on October 25, 2010,that was a day that I call my rebirth. I was on six different medications before surgery for hypertension. Now I am only on two different medications and for that I am truly greatful. I have lost 70 lbs, so far. I was at a stand still until I found THE ANSWER! Now I can go on and feel good about losing the additional 70 pounds. And I am on my way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
