Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

hello, my name is tasha. as long as i remember food has been an addiction all of my life. i would eat everything in site. i am an emotional eater and i believed that my home was not secure unless i had an over abundance of food at my disposal.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst thing about being overweight is that i was made fun of all my life, clothes never really fit and i had to always go to the adult section for my clothes which made me look old. everyone teased my from my friends and my dad, i felt bad all of the time, i would always have to take extra showers because i sweated contstantly and i did not want to stink

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

i had my wls on 9/29/10 and my life changed. i feel really happy and knowing that im not going to eat myself to an early grave. my thighs dont rub together nor do i sweat. i was 375 and would not get on the scale. now at 190 i am happy to get on the scale everyday.
