Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I was heavy most of my life. In high school I was considered heavy at 135. Being overweight hurt my self esteem and my confidence. I went through times where I was depressed and an emotional wreck. I tried all the diets and I would feel good and then I would gain it all back...plus some.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst thing about being overweight....my health is deteriorating, my self esteem is non existent and I can't play with my children.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I am only 2 weeks post-op so I cannot say what the future holds for me but I can say that in the last 2 weeks I have lost 22 lbs and I am feeling very good about my journey. I can't wait to see what I will accomplish in 6 months, 1 years.....the rest of my life.....

ARE YOU READY TO PAY IT FORWARD & SHARE YOUR JOURNEY? Your journey will help highlight the many ways weight loss surgery improves lives and makes a difference in our families, communities and world. EACH JOURNEY COUNTS as a voice towards greater awareness.
