Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

Before my surgery...I was an overweight diabetic...I weighed 265 lbs and couldn't get my sugar under 300. The problem was I was either sleeping or eating...seemed like I never got enough...never got full. I tried MANY weight loss programs...Atkins diet, weight watcher, pills etc. Nothing worked I could only lose like 25 lbs and then stop.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I couldn't hardly walk without getting out of breath. I couldn't take my daughter to the park and play...I would have to watch...sometimes I couldn't fit in the booths at restaurants. So many negatives.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I can put my own socks on...I can see my body parts!!!! I can walk about 2 miles without even thinking about it...I ride bikes with my 7 year old...we play and SWING at the park.
