Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I was born a big baby and I have dealt with being big all my life. When I hit menpause the weight started to climb and I was totally disgusted with myself, no matter what I did the weight just kept staying the more weight the less active I became. When I finally begged my doctor to help he seemed to brush off my request till I received the call from a bariatric surgery unit at TWH.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I couldn't bend to tie my shoes, I couldn't even cut my toenails. I was always out of breath and I just despised what I saw in the mirror everyday.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I just had my surgery on April 18/12.
