Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I have struggled with my weight my whole life. Went on my first diet when I was in second grade. I did all the diets out there. Would lose...than gain back what I lost and then some. I was in denial for many years. Always told myself that I was ok. Then my health started going to H*** ! Was diagnosed with NIDDM in 2007 and at that point seriously started to think about weight loss surgery. At the time, our insurance plan required a one year diet history which totally discouraged me from even trying. To make a very long story short, I started working for one of the best bariatric surgeons in the country, Dr. Jamokay Taylor. I had my WLS on 4/27/2011. Have lost 112 pounds. Have 20 pounds to goal.
What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?
The looks of disgust from "normal" weight individuals
If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?
I CAN CROSS MY LEGS, WALK WITHOUT BEING OUT OF BREATH, HAVE GREAT SEX, BUY CLOTHES I ACTUALLY LIKE, I NO LONGER TAKE 10 MEDICATIONS, MY FAMILY DOCTOR IS PROUD OF ME (I NO LONGER DREAD GOING TO SEE HIM), I AM CONFIDENT!
