Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I was, and still am, the classic emotional eater. I would go clothes shopping, nothing would fit or look good, so I would eat. I was not happy with myself and tried every diet under the sun. Drop weight, gain it all back and more. I was feeling sick and bloated all the time. I started to sink into a never ending depression.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

My body image and my self image.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I can play with my grandchildren and keep up the the toddlers. I jog, I jog EVERY DAY now. I love it! I also love the fact that I now have the education and the understanding about my addiction to food. I have the skills and have developed self-restraint and how to keep myself accountable. Accountable for a lot of different things in my life, not just food.
