Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have been heavy most of my adult life. At one point I was able to lose 85 pounds, through diet and exercise but I was not able to keep it off. I have tried numerous diets, lost 25-35 pounds each time, and then climbed right back up to where I was before -- or more!

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Tight, uncomfortable clothes being a daily reminder that you are obese. Air travel in coach... it's not much fun flying from the U.S. to Asia or Europe when you have to squeeze into your seat! Losing steam quickly because you're out of shape.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

My surgery is scheduled for April 18, 2012. Three weeks away! I'm ready!
