Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

As early as I can remember as a child I was heavy. Family would say I was "big-boned". Other kids would make fun of me constantly. Emotionally I fely ugly and my self esteem was low. The weight problem continued throughout the years. I remember being so insulted after reading my Ob/Gyn had put "morbidly obese" in my medical record.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst things I can remember was being embarrassed to go into my childrens schools because of my weight and avoiding medical check ups because of my weight. Not being able to fit in restaurant booths, or turnstyles at train stations or auditorium seats at the schools or theaters.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I was almost wheelchair bound, sedentary, and didn't want to go anywhere. So i've lost narly 200 lbs almost in the two's haven't been there in forever! I can walk again, and i even am exercising now!
