Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
Try, try and try again...... That's how the saying goes!
Well I tried and tried and tried again and still I wasn't able to lose weight. I tried all the usual weight watching clubs, all the new diet fads, the latest diet pills and supplements and even the latest exercise fads. I would lose 20lb at most then whoompf, straight back and then some.
I live in the UK, so I was lucky that my surgery could be done on the national health. My doctor suggested it, because my family was prone to high blood pressure, diabetes and heart problems/ attacks. (funnily enough, my blood pressure and cholesterol have always been perfect) anywho, my GP put me onto the waiting list. Four years later and still waiting (and still growing) I got an appointment with the surgeon, and finally had a date....... This got put back 4 times, but in the end I got it and I promised myself I would do everything right.
What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?
The worst thing for me about being overweight was that I couldn't do anything for too long (except eat) without feeling sweaty and horrible.
We usually go to Fl every year for our vacation, and the third time we went, I needed the help of the workers at Uni to squeeze the safety harness over me on 'The Hulk' Boy, was I embarrassed.
Also asking for seat belt extensions on the plane.
If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?
I haven't been back to Florida since my surgery, but I have been on rides at Thorpe Park here in the UK. They were great. I can also put on a aeroplane seatbelt and pull it cause it's too loose
