Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I use to starve myself and comfort eat. It just depended on the time. I rewarded myself with food. I comforted myself with food. My life revolved around food it seemed; even though I never consciously thought about it that way.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The way people would look and treat you. Like you were less of a human being and incapable of doing what "normal" people could. Like being overweight was some kind of retardation rather than a physical ailment.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I am slowly feeling more and more energy. I'm almost to my 30 day mark. I had the gastric sleeve. And in 3 weeks lost 30lbs. Ive hit my plateau now, and Im really scared to see what the future will bring; but I look forward every day to liking to go shopping again and running farther/faster, and feeling like a beautiful STRONG person again.
