Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

Would buy clothes and think I will fit into them soon. Diabetics out of control blood pressure thru the roof. On 8 different kinds of medicines. Was always on a diet with no success. One thing I will say is everyday I have to drink 60 oz of water, have enough protein and be careful not to eat anything that will not sit well with me. That can be hard but there is support from the staff of Dr. Katz's office and a support group that meets once a month. I have lost 60 pounds since September. I feel great.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Pain, couldn't bend over to tie my shoes, so tired all the time and couldn't fit in stadium or bus seats. I would have to lay down before I would do anything after work.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Working out, can tie my shoes now and seating in comfort in planes and concert seats. I have lots of energy!!! I am No longer a diabetic. Blood pressure perfect. Off of 5 medicines only on 3 medications now.
