Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I've been overweight my whole life. I'm one of five children. My 4 siblings are petite & skinny like my mother; I've always been heavy like my father. Lucky me.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Because I feel judged by others because of my weight, I tend to do a "dog and pony show" for strangers (prospective bosses, new friends, colleagues, etc.) to distract them from the fact that I'm overweight. And believe me: That is exceedingly exhausting.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I have my weight loss surgery on 2/28/2012!
