Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I was FAT and HAPPY at the same time! Even though the mirror was not my friend, I enjoyed life although in the back of my mind, I was very worried about my future. My blood pressure was creeping up enough to need medication and my knees hurt after long days of teaching. I knew I needed to do something drastic and simple weekly diets/challenges weren't cutting it. I'm surrounded by a loving family, a very rewarding career, but I needed to be happy with ME, in my own skin, and take charge of the rest of my life!

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Low energy...minimal clothing options...keeping up with my kids was difficult...being afraid of airplane seat belts and amusement parks (humiliation)...wondering how soon I would die if I kept up my lifestyle...

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I feel fantastic, younger, more active, healthy, vibrant, and like everyone says....wish I would have done this ten years ago!
