Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I struggled for years with my weight after having children. It was a roller coaster...loose 10 pounds then gain back 15. I got to the point that I was depressed and unhappy with myself and everything in my life. My husband went with me to my doctor's appointment with my family physician and we discussed options. That is when I learned about bariatric surgery. The surgery has changed my life!

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst thing about being over weight was not being able play sports with my girls. I couldn't move and my legs and hips hurt all the time. I was always athletic growing up and not being able to run or play any kind of sport was depression.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I can move! I can bend! I can breathe! I play tennis with my girls and love it! I also like me again...no depression!!!
