Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I get very depressed some days. I dont feel comfortable in my own skin, and therefore I dont feel comfortable to go out in public. Some days I feel that I do not look good, and it doesnt matter what clothes I put on. Other days I feel great, and the little things dont bother me.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Feeling people look at you, and making fun of you. It happened my whole life, and probably contributes to my low self esteem.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I love being active with my children. I play soccer now, can run a lot easier and work better. I'm able to get things done that I need to do and can keep up with daily chores without needing a nap or rest.

ARE YOU READY TO PAY IT FORWARD & SHARE YOUR JOURNEY? Your journey will help highlight the many ways weight loss surgery improves lives and makes a difference in our families, communities and world. EACH JOURNEY COUNTS as a voice towards greater awareness.
