Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

As a child, I saw myself overweight, especially since my older sister was a bean pole and was always kind enough to make the comparison. I look back now and realize I have always been an emotional eater. I was divorced with 3 children at the age of 23 and over the past 15 years I have managed to eat myself into a size 20 at 250 pounds. I have spent several years researching the surgical weightloss option while continuing the destructive yo-yo dieting lifestyle. I recently attended my 4th weight loss seminar and have made the decsion to proceed with an option, I deeply believe will help me in changing my life.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I am in constant fear of deteriorating health. Both my parents are overweight and suffer from several co-morbidities. I want to live a long and healthy life, enjoying my kids and grandkids, while being an example of health to them all.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I have not had surgery yet.
