Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

i grew up heavy, struggled with my weight in High School, had one glory year of being a size 12 but continued to add the weight well into my 20's. My first major diet came when I decided I was done being everyones girlfriend at the end of the night and not the next day. I had one gentleman I had in mind that I was going to change my life for and we then were going to live happily ever after. I joined Weight Watcher and goodbye weight. I sent from 245 to 144 - I was so into it, I was so happy and so proud of myself and still am, it was hard work. The gentleman I was going to live happily every after managed to get married to someone else and I was left to find out what dating was. I dated a few men and then met my husband. I am so happy the first happy ever after never happened even though my husband and I have been through more than most couples need to be. We have two little girls, 10 and 7 and as I packed on the pounds and losing both of my parents early, I could not deny it anymore. I have never loved anyone as much as the three people in my life or never really understood that someone could love me like I loved the people I had lost. I signed up for surgery, went thru the hoops and had the surgery on 1/11/12. I am home on recovering, full of hope and fear, I am willing to work though and hope I can help anyone out there if they need it and find help with struggles.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Not being able to participate in activities, not being able to keep up with the girls, the angry I felt inside

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

To soon for this questions, but I did put on a pull over jacket that fit and I never thought it would.
