Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I am an emotional eater. I also eat out of boredom. I don't know why I do it and that puzzles me. I also feel as if I have to clean my plate no matter how much is on it. I think I learned that from childhood because you could not get up unless your plate was cleaned.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Feeling like you are not in control of your impulses. Shopping with "normal size" friends.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I have a tentative surgery date for February 1st. My surgeon has submitted my information to my insurance company on January 12, 2012. The hardest thing for me is the waiting. I am not a very patient person but this process is teaching me to be.
