Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have battled with weight control since i was a young teen. Now even in my early thirties i can't walk into a crowd with my head up because i can feel people whispering about me behind my back. I never wanted to be the kind of person who felt like she couldn't hold her head up in society. Literally i would cry myself to sleep nights because i felt like i wasn't worth anything.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Feeling like everyone was staring at me and having someone always making a negative comment about my weight. Even those who claimed to love me.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I have not yet had the surgery. I am shopping for a surgeon at this time.
