Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

40 years old with a young family - tired, no energy, depressed and hiding myself away. Tried and failed many diets over the years, my illnesses and medications made it even more tricky to loose the weight and keep it off.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Very poorly controlled diabetes on huge amounts of insulin, and other related conditions including depression, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, hypothyroidism, kidney disease, foot neuropathy - I was becoming more and more ill.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Since my surgery I have never had so much energy, and I love being an active Mum. My health has improved dramatically and im on only one slow acting insulin injection each day.
