Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I've always been overweight. But when my gpa passed away it became worse and i kept everything bottled up inside me and just basically ate my feelings away. I ate out of boredom, stress, anger, depression, and anything else you could think of. When I started meeting with my psychologist and we started talking about where everything started it became more clear about why my weight was getting worse and worse.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The way people treat me. Like i'm not good enough to be friends with them even with my family i'm not good enough to be part of it because i'm not like the rest of them skinny skinny.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I'm only 1 month post-op but i love that i can actually walk longer then 5 minutes or up the stairs without getting so out of breath!
