Walk into a public restroom stale without turning sideways.

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

Through Kaiser. I went through the Opti-Fast program twice and figured I need an additional tool to keep weight off, once I lost it.

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

Use Kaiser, They have a fairly easy program, including the RIGHT eduction.

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

I needed a tool to help maintain weight loss in for the long term. Losing weight (up and down) is not a major issue, keeping it off is. Those voices that hep you justify what you are eating is the issue and he will always be there. I just need to control him.

How did you decide which proceedure to have?

After visting Pacific Bariatric's informational session twice, I felt the safer route is the gastric bypass, there is much more information about its long term effect.

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

I have a fear everyday with the excess weight. surgery is a major decision and should not be taken lightly. I have however, put all my affairs in order ensuring I have a medical directive on file just in case. I am doing this to save my life, but I do know it can take my life.
