Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I had tried too many different approaches from the time I was 16. I never really had a weight problem then, just 5 pounds to lose for summer or prom season and I maintained my weight well into my 20's. But marital problems and the everyday stresses finally took a toll around 28. In 1996 I weighed what I weigh today and I thought that was it, I finally have made progress so I had liposuction. I rapidly gained weight over the next few years and then I finally topped out at my all time highest of 278 in October 2003. That was my breaking poiny

I didn't have any fears, my faith in God was strong and carried me through.

My mom and husband were both againist it. Then they came to a support group meeting and heard the stories and they then began to come around. Now they are so glad and supportive.
