Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I tried evry weight loss program you could think of and they all worked for a little while. It was the most frustrating thing I could do mthat is dieting I loved food and any kind of food. I loved to dress and eventualy stopped buying clothes all together.I hated being the fattest person in the room and the brunt of everyone's jokes . I was a good sport and went along with it but inside I hated it. When a friend approached me about the mini bypass I jumped at it. It turned out to be the best thing I have ever done. Since my daughter went through it and I referred about six others to have it done.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I was getting unhealthier every day I developed more problems as time went by

After surgury I found that I was having a hard time sleeping and I realised that my cpap machine had to be set lower and after 3 weeks I started to get some sleep. Then I started to feel very tired and low energy levels. I immeditely call the Dr. and he advised me to stop Taking my blood pressure pills of which I was taking 3 different kinds and I was a little hesitant. But I did cut these in half and started to check my blood pressure every day and contacted my cardiologist who gave me the ok and every thing was the ok . I felt great and finaly I weaned myself off of the blood pressure pills.

After surgury you can only have some crackers and soups consume types and yogurts for about 7 or8 days . Then you can introduce soft foods such as oatmeal, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes etc. Then slowly try harder foods and chew them very well . Ice cream and sweets do not agree with me but i do have them once and a while you can eat almost anything you want after 30 days in small amounts. I threw up several times until I new exactly how much I can eat. Your body tells you. Now I eat almost anything but steak. It take s to long tochew and then it doesn't taste that good after you chew it to death.
