Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I was depressed and unhappy with life until I learned abot Weight loss surgery. Now I am a much happier person

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Not finding clothes that would look good on you or even fit you correct

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Playing with my children, this is something I didn't feel like doing before.

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

One of my friends had bariatric surgery and I said I would never do it. Then i did more research and it is wayyy safer to have surgery than to live with all the co-morbid obesity symptoms that most people have

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

Do everything that your surgeon's office askes you to do. I got approval from my insurance in just 3 days I was one of the lucky ones. I had all of my pre op clearance's that were requested in just 4 weeks..

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

I visited with my surgeon for the first time for 1 1/2 hours he was very patient with me and didn't mind answering all of my questions. I wrote down a list of questions from the first day I deceided to have surgery until I went into the operating room. He was always there for me to answering any questions that I might have had no matter how silly you might think they are.

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

I was scared of having a leak after the VSG surgery. After I did the research I saw that the risk of having a leak is less than 1% so that is how I mad my final deceision

How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?

i didn't tell everyone b/c most people, even family, do not understand why we want to go through something so drastic to lose weight. I wouldn't change a thing about my deceision

How did your employer/supervisor react to your decision? What did you tell him/her? How long were you out of work?

I was self-employed so this didnt' effect me

What was it like attending your first information seminar on weight loss surgery? Were you glad you attended? if so, why?

Yes I would recommend going to as many Seminar's and support groups as you can.
