Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

ever since i can remember as a child i was obese, i've always had a problem with my weight. i was teased as a kid in school about my weight it was horrible i used to cry all the time and blame my mother for my weight.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

not being able to walk far without being out of breathe, back pains, being talked about because of ur weight.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

being able to shop any and everywhere

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

i found out about bariatric surgery from a tv commercial so i just was like alright lets give it a try, my first impression of it was like okay this is a way to lose weight fast.

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

well my experience with my insurance company was not a very bad one because i had good insurance nj plus plan

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

my surgeon was very informative very kind and sweet once u sit down and had a chance to know him. just ask a lot of questions to make sure this is the right thing to do.

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

just a long battle with weight loss of 150lbs gaining weight back just doing what i had to do.

How did you decide which proceedure to have?

i wanted permanent weightloss, so i decided to go with the rouen-y

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

the only fears i had was of dying because of my kids but i prayed and left it in gods hands to lead and guide me u have to ask god for guidance

How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?

everyone had different opinions about the situation they didn't want me to get it and some people were supportive, now since i had surgery everybodys supportive

How did your employer/supervisor react to your decision? What did you tell him/her? How long were you out of work?

she was happy because she had the procedure done before so that was good, i told her i'm getting the procedured done i'm out of work for 8 weeks

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

the hospital stay at barix clinics was very phenominal i mean it was superb. i was there for 1 week,. the most important things to bring to the hospital is slippers extra clothes deodorant.

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

no i just have a lot of pain

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

i felt excited a lil nervous, scared but i was okay i prayed about it

Describe your first few weeks home from the hospital. What should people expect from this period?

expect to be in some pain if u had open rny

How far did you travel to have your surgery? (If far, how did this affect your aftercare?)

not far at all 15-20 minutes away

Please describe in detail what things you could and couldn't eat in the weeks and months following surgery. What foods have been off limits? Please explain how your dietary tolerance changed week-by-week, and then month-by-month since surgery.

actually i don't have any foods i can't eat i can tolerate anything so far.

What was your actvity level in the days and weeks after surgery?

right now i'm still in a lot of pain

What vitamins and/or dietary supplements have you taken since your surgery?

pepcid and pain meds

What side effects (nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbace, dumping, hair loss etc.) were worse for you? For how long after surgery did they persist? How did you cope with them?

sleep disturbance because its hard to sleep because of my stomach

What was the worst part about the entire bariatric surgery process?

actually the pain

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

barixs clinic there the best,it very helpful and informative.

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

my scar is long, yeah it is definitely what i expected

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

i haven't had any plateaus thus far
