Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

i had a hard time with wieght gain and loss before surgery. i tried everything under the sun to loose weight and it would work and then i would gain it all back plus some.. Some stuff did not work but i tried all kinds of things i became border line diabetic and was having to check my sugar and take water pills it was misirable.. I was depressed and wanted nothing more to just fade away... I always had a smile most of the time cause i didnt want people knowing how i felt on the inside people used to always say you are not fat or heavy but i was and i know they were just trying to be nice.. It was a struggle everyday.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Not being able to find clothes im young im 28 and i could not find the cute clothes a 28 yr old female would wear. Everything was not cute or it fit good in the waist and was big in the crouch and butt i hated shopping for clothes

My first meeting was great we talked and he asked me why i wanted surgery and i told him to be healthier and a better me i had lost me along the way.. He didnt have a sense of humor but i liked him alot he was willing to do what i needed and was there for me.

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

I wanted to be healthy again and be the person i used to be.. I was tired of being fat and carrying all the weight around my back my knees where hurting me all the time and i was ready to do something life changing... A foot in the right direction..

I didnt think about all the bad well at first of coarse but then i looked at it like i could die from surgery from a broken arm or getting my tonsils out theres risk in everything you do.. I wanted this and i didnt care what i had to do i prayed about it really hard and just thought of good thought thats all you can do prepare yourself mentally..
